According to Star magazine, Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss is “determined to woo Derek” into handing out roses, supposedly offering him $3 million (which would be away beyond the usual six figures Bachelor/ettes get) to take the gig.
“Mike thinks Derek would be the ultimate Bachelor because he’s already a household name,” a friend claims, adding that The Bachelor is “desperate for another famous guy to star on the show, and they always come back to Derek.”
However, Gossip Cop talked to Derek’s rep, who “literally laughed out loud” when asked about the alleged offer and said there’s “no truth” to the claim that he’s being pursued for the 2014 season.
The Bachelor usually just casts someone from The Bachelorette, and that’s probably what they’ll do this time, too. Still, DWTS pro Cheryl Burke was pushing to be the Bachelorette, so why can’t Derek be considered for The Bachelor? He’s reportedly not interested in opening up his private life like that, but ABC loves him and he might be good for ratings. But if he’s definitely not into the idea, what about his sister Julianne for next year’s Bachelorette?
