Arrow star Stephen Amell had stirred up rumors when he admitted to having had a meeting with the film's producers earlier this year, but he says he is no longer interested in starring in it.
Stephen took to Facebook to set the record straight — and even appeared to diss the book in the process.
"Was on a flight yesterday evening back to LA with no movie, so I grabbed 50 Shades of Grey and burned through it," Stephen writes.
"Ummm... I hope they get the movie made, and I'm sure someone will be excellent in it," he continues. "That person will not be me."
Whoa! This role is so high-profile that most actors would kill for it, so it's surprising when someone who isn't a household name withdraws voluntarily.
Stephen had previously said that he hadn't yet read the book when he met with producers. So it seems that he didn't like what he read. Perhaps he's uncomfortable with the sexy scenes?
Regardless, Stephen publicly turning down the role may turn out to be a moot point, as Alex Pettyfer is rumored to have the part in the bag.
So are you crying your little eyes out because Stephen just isn't that into the book? Or did you not like him for Christian Grey to begin with?
