Once Upon a Time Finale Speculation: What Will Happen if Storybrooke Is Destroyed?
The Season 2 finale of Once Upon a Time is a few days away, and though we’ve gathered a handful of spoilers about the epic hour, there is still a lot we’re in the dark about. One of the biggest mysteries? Storybrooke’s fate. Will our fairy tale characters stay, or will the town blow up?
So far, we know that Tamara and Greg activate Regina’s fail-safe black diamond, and the effects start immediately. The ground shakes, creepy black shadows start appearing, and everyone is running and screaming. This “trigger” can’t be stopped, but Regina can slow it down. In the promo, we see her channeling her magic in the mines, trying to keep it from destroying the town, but she can only go at it for so long.
With that knowledge, we have a few options of what will happen to The Charmings & Co. if the small Maine town goes boom. Read on for our theories, and then hit the comments with your own! Everyone returns to Fairytale Land. This is the ideal solution, but it’s kind of a long shot. If they get the magic beans back from Tamara and Greg and they are able to open a portal, they could get back to their beloved Fairytale Land. Alternatively, the beans could lead to...
Neverland? Granted, we have no idea where Neal ended up after he plunged into darkness (and possibly died), but it could be Neverland. Since he was seen with Mulan, Aurora, and Prince Phillip, it’s a safe bet that he’s in Fairytale Land (or what’s left of it), but we hold out hope that he made it to Neverland and was saved since he’s not a child that evil Peter Pan wants to trap. Either way, there’s a chance for Neal and Emma to be reunited, so fingers crossed.
A few people will escape. If either of the two options above don’t happen, a few people could escape, somehow running outside Storybrooke’s town line or getting enough magic to go to another safe land. Alternatively, Regina could find a way to rescue only a select group.
Everyone dies. If we are going to be morbid and pessimistic, OUAT hasn’t been picked up for Season 3 yet, so everyone could die in a tragic series-ender. But don’t fret — we highly doubt this will happen. C’mon, doesn’t this show deserve a fairy tale ending?
