Countdown to Mother’s Day, Day 3: A Royal Tea Party (PHOTO)
Here at Wetpaint Moms, we think Mother’s Day is a big freaking deal.
It’s a day to celebrate the moms we love for all they do, and hopefully a time to treat yourself with something nice. That’s why we’re continuing our countdown to Mother’s Day by rounding up some great stuff every single day until May 12 to help celebrate the mom in your life, especially if that mom is you!
Use these ideas for inspiration, or feel free to send on to a significant other (hint, hint) to spark some thoughts. Whether you want to celebrate your own mom, feel like treating your fellow moms, or just want to give yourself a little pick -me-up on your “special day,” make sure you feel good about this holiday. You’ve earned it!
Today we continue our celebration of Mother’s Day by sharing photos of the best Mother’s Day tea party ever. It seems Prince Harry decided to drop by the White House and help the first lady serve tea to some very lucky moms!
As reported by US Weekly, guests from military families consisting of nearly 170 mothers, grandmothers, and children gathered yesterday for an afternoon tea in the East Room of the White House. Prince Harry’s attendance at the event was a wonderful surprise.
The prince arrived earlier that day for his weeklong visit to the U.S. Looking very dashing in a dark blue suit and red tie, he stood next to the First Lady as she praised him for his recent tour of Afghanistan and explained the purpose of his visit.
Ms. Obama said, “The prince spends much of his time supporting our Wounded Warriors and families of our fallen. And this weekend he will be attending the fourth annual Warrior Games. He's only got a limited amount of time with us, but when he heard about the tea party and all of you, he wanted to be part of it to personally thank you for your service."
In a royal display of nice manners, before the tea party Harry spent time with a group of kids in the State Dining Room who were making gifts for their moms. We wish the prince the best of luck with the rest of his U.S. trip!
