American Idol Ratings On Thursday Actually Went Up – Wait, What!?
American Idol ratings have been on the steady decline all season, which has prompted the folks behind the Idol machine to scramble for a revamp for Season 13. Thursday’s results show saw the unthinkable, however – American Idol ratings actually got a bump from last week!
Okay, okay, so it was only up two tenths from last week’s 3.2 rating in adults 18-49, but still...
Of course, as they pretty much always do on Thursday, CBS won the night in the adults 18-49 category with their seemingly untouchable one-two punch of The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men.
CBS snagged the win with a 2.7 rating in the adults 18-49 category and 12.094 million viewers. FOX came in second with a 2.4 rating and 8.641 million viewers. ABC was third with a 2.4 rating and 7.27 million viewers. Up next was NBC with a 1.5 rating and 3.510 million viewers, followed by the CW, with a 0.7 rating and 1.724 million viewers.
When asked what she thinks American Idol could do to get back its former status as a dominant show in her exit interview today, Angie Miller said she loved the changes AmericanIdol 2013 made this year. Of course, she has to be a bit more P.C. than the average person, but we tend to agree with her to a certain extent.
The public is hard on American Idol, as everyone expects perfection from the original show of its ilk. Regardless, the rumors of a huge shakeup at the judges table continue, and we now know that original judge Randy Jackson is finally gone for good.
What do you think American Idol 2014 could do to get back to its ratings of old?
