If you’ve lost track of this season, you might be asking yourself, “Is American Idol new tonight?” It’s new, exciting, and the end...until next year! While last night’s finale performance show was limited to performances by the finalists —Candice Glover and Kree Harrison— tonight’s star-studded event will include lots of group performances, duets, and solos by people like Jennifer Lopez, Psy, and Adam Lambert.
J-Lo will be returning to the stage where she was once a judge and, while the song she’s singing hasn’t been confirmed yet, the buzz seems to be that it will be her latest single, “Live It Up”. Adam is said to be performing a duet with the recently ousted hopeful Angie Miller. And Korean pop sensation Psy will be on hand to perform his new single “Gentleman.” We imagine the crowd will be on their feet and dancing for that one.
The American Idol finalists are often paired with their own personal idols, so it will be interesting to see who these girls choose for their duets. We do know that fifth-place finisher Janelle Arthur will be performing with The Band Perry while Frankie Valli will be performing with the Top 10 guys (groan). American Idol is usually good for a surprise performance or two, so there may even be more on tap than we know. There is also a rumor that Angie Miller will be doing a duet with Adam Lambert.
Current American Idol judges Keith Urban and Mariah Carey have reportedly pre-taped performances for the finale. Keith will sing a new single while Mimi is said to be pre-taping a medley of her biggest hits.
And we can’t forget that, by the end of the night, the winner of American Idol season 12 will be revealed! Both Kree and Candice’s original songs will be available on iTunes after the show.
Will you be watching American Idol tonight (8 p.m.-10:07 p.m. on FOX)? We’ll definitely be tuning in to the exciting finale episode!
