Anyone who remembers the “Looking like a fool with your pants on the ground” guy knows some pretty off-the-wall stuff does happen on American Idol. Season 12 hopeful Candice Glover has saved us the trouble by declaring right out and said she’s “absolutely crazy, out of my mind.”
Candice joked about this during her “Road to Hollywood” interview on Americanidol.com last year, as she got her golden ticket for not only Season 9 but also Season 11. Apparently she didn’t think it would be too crazy to try out for Idol a third time and it’s paid off, as she has made it all the way to the Top 3 so far.
The St. Helena Island, South Carolina native said, “I think American Idol is about being yourself...people that aren’t afraid to go into the world, just free.” Candice, who’s sung in her church since the age of 4, surely isn’t afraid to show off her talent to the world. You can check out plenty of samples of her singing on her Facebook page. She has a rich, soulful voice, not unlike our prediction for the Season 12 winner.
During her American Idol 2013 audition, she got standing ovations from both Randy Jackson and Mariah Carey. She's continued to wow the judges and the viewers all season so far.
Candice stepped out of her comfort zone to cover the Randy Travis and Carrie Underwood duet “I Told You So”. She also impressed the judges during Round 4 of Hollywood Week with a passionate rendition of Alicia Keys's "Girl On Fire." She has continued to impress with every performance so far this season.
The performance that could have won her the season, however, was her rendition of The Cure's "Lovesong" in Top 6 week. Judge Randy Jackson rightfully called it one of the best performances in the history of the show.
From there, it was a sweet ride to victory for Candice as the third time did indeed prove to be the charm and she was named the winner of American Idol 2013!
