The Voice 2013: Blake Shelton and Adam Levine Dominate Season 4

On a show like The Voice, it really is anyone’s game. We’ve seen contestants go from underwhelming to extraordinary in a single performance, earning them a spot in the finals. But coaches do have the power to build strong teams.

In Season 4, Adam Levine has once again displayed his ability to attract mega artists who receive four-chair turns in their blind auditions. The other coaches like to joke that he’s a “used car salesman,” but nine times out of ten he gets the job done. Using this method, he’s managed to land three competition front-runners — Judith Hill, Amber Carrington, and Sarah Simmons — two of which received four-chair turns.

Blake Shelton might not be as persuasive as Adam when it comes to the potential superstars, but his plan for this season might prove to be the most successful yet.

He built a team of strong, yet diverse country artists and introduced their sound to America through classic tunes that have yet to be overused on reality competition shows. A big name in the country music industry, Blake is able to pick songs that will speak to much of the country the other coaches barely even knew existed.

These two tactics have led Adam and Blake to thoroughly destroy Usher and Shakira this season. Both veterans have all three of their artists (the most a coach could have at this point) still in the competition, while Usher and Shakira are both down to one remaining contestant.

And since each coach is not guaranteed a spot in the finale, both teams could be eliminated from the competition next week when the contestant pool moves from the Top 8 to the Top 6.

Shakira’s artist, Sasha Allen, probably has the best chances of staying, especially after her epic performance of “Next to Me” by Emeli Sandé. Hopefully she can continue down this new creative path instead of transitioning back into the mopey classics like “Alone” by Heart.

Michelle Chamuel of Team Usher also has a decent following, but it seems like people are more attracted to her unique look and story than her voice. When pitted against the best of the best, she’s likely to fall short.

Do you think Sasha or Michelle has a chance at winning or will it be someone from Team Adam Levine or Blake Shelton? Tell us your thoughts below!
