Dancing With the Stars 2013: Val Chmerkovskiy: “Was I Supposed to Milk My Injury?”

After Kellie Pickler & Derek Hough won Dancing With the Stars Season 16 over Zendaya Coleman & Val Chmerkovskiy, Val seemed to take it in stride, tweeting words of wisdom and getting support from his big bro Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

However, on Tuesday morning he shared a series of tweets that hinted to some frustration:

Aspire for bigger and better, and don't sweat the small things #justabump

... was I supposed to milk my injury? #sorrythatsnotme #somepeoplesosoftnowadays #myoldschoolcatsknowwhatimean

I gotta shut this twitter shit down before I go off....

To quote a great poet "I hope my name taste like sardines to these ....." 😚

That last one sounds like the start of a lyric from Lil Wayne's "Bitches Love Me": "I hope my name taste like sardines to these n*ggas."

Did someone say something to Val to blame him in some way for Zendaya’s loss? Did they suggest he should’ve done more with his eye injury? To us, Val and Zendaya did everything right and nothing wrong — they just didn’t get as many votes as Kellie and Derek, which you can maybe blame partially on the voting snafu. We bet it was a close vote, although DWTS didn’t reveal any kind of percentage between first and second.

For her part, Zendaya told On the Red Carpet things happen for a reason. It’s not about winning a shiny trophy, it’s about inspiring kids and using DWTS as a platform for her career. After the Finale, she got a hug from Aly Raisman and hugs from two sweet little girls she just happened to meet. "I love you!" one little girl said when running up to her. "That right there, that's why I do what I do,” Zendaya said after they left. “It's not for anything other than to inspire those kids and I'm able to do that, and I was able to do that with this show."
