Angelina Jolie Topless, Post-Mastectomy Portrait to Be Auctioned (PHOTO)

Angelina Jolie's brave story of her preventative mastectomy caused a media frenzy, but it looks like it's about to make a splash in the art world, too. A painting of a breast-less Angelina is going to be auctioned, says UK arts organization Arts Below. Proceeds will support the Falling Whistles charity, an organization that campaigns for peace in the Congo, one of Angelina's causes.

Swedish artist Johan Andersson's decision to paint an imagined portrait Angelina topless, post-mastectomy, with no reconstructive surgery may seem controversial or overly-sensational, but Johan insists that the story is close to his heart.

"My Mother had aggressive breast cancer when I was 15, the thought of her having to have a mastectomy really scared me and she was fortunate enough to have surgery without the mastectomy," says Johan about his painting The recent news about Angelina stirred an anxiety within me leading me to paint this portrait. There is an underlying awkwardness in her demeanour in juxtaposition to the natural beauty of her face."

You may recognize Johan's name from his painting of Amy Winehouse, unveiled a year after her death.

See a photo of the painting below (click the magnifying glass in the bottom-right to see the whole thing). What do you think? Touching, or too much?
