Should Dancing With the Stars Have Celebrity Judges? You Tell Us!
Dancing With the Stars has been on for 16 seasons, and there’s no doubt that the dancing competition show has its format down pat. While they made a few changes and additions this season — including the now-famous “Len’s side-by-side challenge” — there wasn’t a big shake-up until they canceled the results show.
Now that they have adapted a format similar to So You Think You Can Dance (in which they announce the eliminated contestant at the top of the following week’s performance episode), will they take a few tips from other competition shows and add a celebrity judging panel?
The New York Post recently reported that two (or all three) judges could be on their way out, and E! News added that though “nothing is decided about casting for next season,” there are no contracts out for Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, or Bruno Tonioli yet. This doesn’t mean that contracts won’t be signed soon, but rumors have swirled that they could go the way of American Idol and replace all the judges with celebs for Season 17.
We’ve already dream-casted our ideal panel (and a replacement for Brooke Burke), but we want to know what you think. Could you imagine DWTS with a celeb panel, or do you think it would take away from the show? ABC Entertainment Group President Paul Lee noted they want to “age down” the casting this year, so either way, we may be looking at replacements — whether celeb or dancing professionals.
