Ben Scott “Came in With a Strategy” to Win Desiree Hartsock: Exclusive
The Bachelorette is a game of hearts — and some guys know exactly how they want to play it. Case in point: Ben Scott. The Texas single dad has clearly already made quite the impression on Desiree Hartsock with his sweet words, soft lips and the way he goes on and on about his young son, Brody.
The only problem? In his quest for Des’ heart, he’s pissing some people off. Take the June 3 episode, where Ben, who had already scored a rose earlier in the show, pulled her aside for yet another romantic one-on-one, blocking anyone else from talking to her. No one took too kindly to it and made a point to let Ben know.
But was it sour grapes that Ben already seems to be getting ahead… or are the guys really concerned he wasn’t there for the “right reasons?” (Will someone please get that song out of our head already!) We turned to a source who was on set with the them to find out.
“No one thought that Ben was necessarily a bad guy,” the source tells Wetpaint. “But it was clear from the start he wasn’t there to make friends.”
“What he didn’t realize,” the source continues, “was that while he was focused solely on Des, the rest of the guys were bonding with each other. A lot of them got really close. He could have been part of that, but he made the choice not to.”
“Ben came in with a strategy,” the source concludes. “But it made him the odd man out. In the long run, no one hates him, but you’re going to see things implode before it’s all over.”
