We all know Emilie de Ravin as the beautiful Belle on Once Upon a Time, but before she donned the infamous yellow dress, and just after she got trapped on an island in Lost, she was Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s dead ex-girlfriend in the 2005 film Brick.
This neo-noir thriller was JGL and writer/director Rian Johnson’s first collaboration — they later worked on 2012’s Looper together — and was a breakout role for many of the young stars. Emilie was among them, and though she already had a following thanks to Roswell and the start of Lost, this was her first big film, even though it was an indie.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly a decade since the film premiered in January 2005, and even harder to believe how young she looked back then! Though she was 24 when Brick came out, in this adorable throwback photo posted by co-star Noah Segan today, she looks like a teenager. (Fittingly so, as she was playing a high schooler.)
In the pic, she’s sandwiched between Joe and Noah, all shooting a serious look to the camera on set. He captioned the pic, “Cinematic love triangle, a decade ago,” hashtagging “Throwback Thursday” and tagging Emilie, Joe, and director Rian, too.
If you haven’t seen the film, run, don’t walk, to pick up a copy. It is certainly an unforgettable love triangle (more like a square, actually), and the twists and turns of Em’s mysterious death will leave you guessing until the final seconds.
