The Vampire Diaries, Walking Dead Actress Arrested in Ricin Letters Case
The Vampire Diaries actress Shannon Guess, who played a student in an episode of the show, has been arrested in connection to Ricin-laced letters sent to President Barack Obama and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Shannon Rogers Guess Richardson, 38, was arrested on Friday, two weeks after she reportedly told the FBI her husband, Nathan Richardson, was responsible for the potentially deadly letters. Shannon has appeared in bit parts in television shows such as The Vampire Diaries, The Walking Dead and Drop Dead Diva. She’s also had small roles in films like The Blind Side and The Change Up.
The actress and former Dallas beauty queen allegedly implicated her husband in the mailing of Ricin-laced letters to President Obama, Mayor Bloomberg and the head of a gun-control organization who worked with Bloomberg. Shannon claimed to have found a bottle of Ricin in the couple’s refrigerator and Ricin-making Internet searches on their computer.
Nathan Richardson responded to the allegations by reportedly claiming his wife set him up to get back at him. “He says they are going through a divorce and that she was away for a few days,” one law-enforcement source told the New York Post. “He says it was when she got back that she found the [purported] ricin.”
Shannon Richardson, who is pregnant with the couple’s sixth child, is currently being held at the federal courthouse in Texarkana, Texas, according to a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s office. No details have been released on what charges she may be facing.
