Is Stefan Salvatore Mean? Vampire Diaries Fan Question of the Day
If you want to know what a loaded question is, look no further than our fan inquiry of the day: Is Vampire Diaries’ Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) mean? To answer that, it depends largely on what time period you happen to catch him in. Current Stefan is anything but mean. In fact, some might call him nice to a fault, as we saw him put his own feelings aside in Season 4 to let Elena (Nina Dobrev) go and sow her wild vampire oats. So to speak. However, you definitely won’t want to meet mean Stefan in a dark alleyway during one of his Ripper phases. You see, Ripper Stefan occurs when the vamp falls off the animal blood wagon and turns to humans. (Seems our handsome guy has a little problem with self-control, in that he has absolutely none.) According to Klaus (Joseph Morgan), in 1917 Stefan massacred an entire village in Mexico to quench his thirst. And he continued his killing spree through Chicago into the ‘20s. He managed to stay mostly sober until Season 3 of Vampire Diaries, when he became Klaus’s wingman in all things bloodlust, dipping his fangs back into the human pool. For now, though, Stefan seems to be on the straight and narrow. We just hope seeing some potential Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena action won’t reawaken his appetite (provided he gets out of that watery grave).
