Vampire Diaries Actress Arrested in Ricin Case Wanted to Be Famous
The husband of former The Vampire Diaries actress Shannon Guess (aka Shannon Richardson), arrested for allegedly sending a ricin-laced letter to President Barack Obama, says his estranged wife just wanted to be famous. “She really wanted to be an actress,” Nathaniel Richardson said in an interview with the Today show. “She wanted to get her face out there.”
You know what’s a terrible way of ‘getting your name out there’? Sending poison to publicly elected officials like President Obama and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Shannon Guess may now be famous, but it’s undoubtedly not the kind of Hollywood rich and famous she was looking for.
While the life of the celebrity can certainly be a charmed one for the lucky few, it’s no secret that getting there can be a rocky, often dark road with all manner of bumps along the way. For no one is this more true than for former Vampire Diaries actress Shannon, an actress struggling to make her big break. While by no means A-List, Richardson had been seen in movies like The Blind Side, and on the small screen on shows like AMC’S The Walking Dead, The CW’s The Vampire Diaries in bit player parts.
Richardson hit a bump on her way to becoming a star (and then some) when she decided to try to allegedly try to frame her now-estranged husband for sending letters containing the poisonous substance ricin to Obama and Bloomberg.
Obviously we are not dealing with someone who has a full deck. Her soon-to-be ex husband feels much the same way himself. “She has done this to herself,” he said. “She has destroyed my reputation and my life but there’s a way up from this and if I sit here and focus on anger, I can’t focus on getting on with my life.”
