Kim Kardashian’s Baby: Did Anna Wintour Think Up the Name North West?
The Devil Wears Prada... and thinks up celebrity baby names?
Apparently North West, the all-but-confirmed name for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's baby, may have come from the brilliant mind of notorious Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour — a woman we all now equate with magazine tyrant Miranda Priestly the aforementioned book and movie.
Kim and Kanye attended a dinner at Anna's house in New York City on May 5, the night before the 2013 Met Gala; and apparently, Anna told Kim that she loved that idea for a baby name, as E! reports.
"That's not why they named her North, but it's nice to have Anna's blessing!" a source tells the site.
Anna, for those of you unaware, the 63-year-old has been top dog at Vogue since 1988. Just this year, she also became the artistic director for Vogue's publisher, Condé Nast. She has a reputation for being icy and intense, which is why she has earned the nickname "Nuclear Wintour" and why Devil paints a less-than-flattering portrait of her.
We're left wondering, why is it nice to have Anna's blessing? Does she really hold that much sway? So much so that to not choose an Anna-approved name would be a crime?
As Miranda Priestly said and as Anna Wintour might very well tell us: "Please bore someone else with your questions."
