Colin O’Donoghue made quite a splash on Once Upon a Time Season 2 as Captain Hook. In fact, the showrunners liked his guy-liner loving version of the iconic character so much that he was promoted to series regular before his first episode even hit the airwaves. It's hard to believe that Colin didn't even think he could land the role!
In a recent interview with Irish Mirror, Colin discussed getting the iconic part — or, more precisely, why he thought he wouldn't.
"When I first got the audition for the show, I thought: 'Well, there is no way I can play this because I’m not old enough to play the traditional Captain Hook,'" he explained. Clearly, the writers felt differently!
Colin also described how he sees his semi-villainous character, saying, "Our Captain Hook can be charming and caring and that’s what makes it all the more heartbreaking when he does something villainous, because you know he has a moral code. He knows he is doing something wrong but he is just so consumed by this quest for revenge that he just can’t stop himself.”
Now that Hook claims to have given up his quest for vengeance against Rumple, do you think we'll see more of his good side in Season 3? Either way, we can't wait to find out!
