Another new face onTrue Blood Season 6, Jurnee Smollet-Bell is playing wide-eyed do-gooder Nicole Wright.
Born in New York City in 1986, the gorgeous American actress was born Jurnee Diana Smollett, and hails from Jewish and African-American descent. She added Bell to her surname after marrying musician Josiah Bell in 2010. Jurnee comes from a large family, and starred with siblings Jojo Smollett, Jazz Smollett, Jussie Smollett, Jake Smollett, and Jocqui Smollett on the 1994 TV series "On Our Own".
This stunning beauty was just featured on the cover of Ebony magazine alongside musical legend Chaka Khan and actress & fashion designer LisaRaye McCoy, and she’s an active social media user who loves to post photos of her red carpet fashion and daily adventures on Instagram.
Jurnee started acting at a young age, with recurring roles on popular 90s shows Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper and Full House. Like True Blood co-star Anna Pacquin, Jurnee also received critical acclaim as a child for her role as “Evie” in 1997’s Eve’s Bayou, winning the Critics Choice Award for Best Child Performance. She received critical appreciation again, performing as Samantha Booke in The Great Debaters (2007) with Denzel Washington.
Smollett-Bell has also acted in several other television shows, including The Defenders and Grey’s Anatomy, but you probably recognize her as headstrong Jess Merriweather on the hit drama Friday Night Lights.
We’re glad Jurnee’s back in another recurring TV role on True Blood Season 6, and we can’t wait to learn more about her character!
