Pretty Little Liars Season 4, Episode 3 Questions: Did Melissa Kill Ian? Is Wren on the “A” Team?
We love all ofPretty Little Liars’ constant thrills and surprises, but at the end of every episode, it always seems as though we have more questions than answers, which was especially true after the most recent episode.
To that end, we’ve tackled the 10 biggest questions from this week’s episode in order to figure out what’s really going on in Rosewood and to pick up on any and all clues.
So did Hanna’s mom kill Wilden or not? She’s certainly up to something, but perhaps she just knows who killed him and is stressed to be protecting that person. Maybe Hanna’s dad was really the one who used his gun to kill Wilden — or we could see Pastor Ted having a dark side and pulling the trigger, too. Long story short: Ash needs better taste in men.
Big speeches always mean something on this show. So when Melissa asks Spencer if she’d be willing to save her life over someone she loves, she seems to be ‘fessing up to killing Ian in order to save Spencer’s life. Sure, Melissa was in the hospital at that time, but people in Rosewood’s hospital have a knack for coming and going. (Jason, anyone?)
The fact that the Liars found an Ali mask in with Ali’s things now suggests that, whenever someone was wearing a mask, it could have still have been Ali or her twin underneath it. Does this mean the Lady in Black was Ali, considering this veiled mystery person was wearing an Ali mask at the funeral?
4. Was someone wearing a Melissa mask on the Halloween train?
It was odd to see the Melissa mask in Creepy Hector Lime’s costume place, since it’s hard to know why Melissa would want one — or why she and Ali would have gone costume shopping together. Could the Melissa mask mean Mona actually saw someone wearing the mask on the Halloween train, rather than seeing Melissa herself? For Spencer’s sake, let’s hope so.
Speaking of Mona, it’s suspicious that — a week after Aria saw Mona talking to the cops — the Liars’ photos were all on the whiteboard in the police station as potential suspects in the Wilden case. So did Mona get the girls in trouble? Plus, we’re suspicious about where Mona was this week, and if she was actually sick. We demand to see a doctor’s note!
We’re willing to jump on the slightest hint at Ali having a twin on the show (as she does in the books). So when Melissa and Spence are talking about whether sisters fight as much as they themselves do, this feels like a reference to Ali and her possible twin, who hated each other in the books. After all, no one fought as much as Ali and her sister.
“A” looks at Emily’s X-rays at the end of the episode — and one guy who is familiar with looking at X-rays is Wren. Given that Wren has treated Emily during previous hospital visits, we’re thinking Wren might be spending extra time with her file this week. Indeed, we have plenty of suspicions about the British cutie, including that he could be the Beach Hottie.
Toby is slowly getting clues about his mom’s death, which now appears to not have been a suicide, given the location of her room’s window. So who killed Toby’s mom — and did Ali indeed have something to do with it? Still, we love that this is bringing Spoby closer together, since Spencer was even willing to return to Radley for him. (That’s dedication, people.)
We get why Aria wants to protect her mom from “A” — given how Hanna and Emily’s moms are currently getting tormented — but we don’t know that sending her to Vienna is the best solution. That said, Ella and Zack seem pretty great together, so we’re sure they can thrive in the country of Schwarzenegger. We just hope Ella will “be back” to the show soon.
We couldn’t help but chuckle when Aria says she doesn’t want her dating life to be dull, since it’s hard to choose a word that better describes Ezra — in all his vest-wearing and typewriter-using glory — than the d-word. That said, we do prefer Ezra over Jake, since we still don’t trust Jake for showing up at Aria’s house randomly last week.
What did you think, Pretty Little Liars fans? Did you love "Cat's Cradle"? Or were there too many questions? Sound off in the comments!
