That ’70s Show Star Lisa Robin Kelly Files For Divorce
That 70s Show star Lisa Robin Kelly has filed for divorce from husband Robert Joseph Gilliam, TMZ reports, with the actress who played Eric Forman's older sister Laurie citing "irreconcilable differences."
TMZ recounted the couple’s troubled relationship, which includes both spouses being arrested last November for allegedly assaulting the other in their North Carolina home. And apparently they had only gotten married the month before!
Lisa, 43, told TMZ they had a major fight in May in Los Angeles. She says Robert wanted her to empty her bank account and give him her money. When she refused, she claims he attacked her, pulled her hair, threw her to the ground, choked her, and even threatened to shoot her. She says he also took away her photo so she couldn't call the police. But a neighbor called the cops — go neighbor! — and Robert was arrested. Lisa reportedly got a restraining order after that and filed for divorce last week.
Robert was convicted of domestic battery, TMZ says, and was sentenced to 3 years probation plus time served in jail. He also has to attend a 52-week domestic violence program and must stay away from Lisa at all times — which sounds like exactly what she wants at this point.
Unfortunately, Lisa is no stranger to the courts herself. She pled guilty to drunken driving in 2010 and was arrested on suspicion of DUI in June of this year.
Normally the end of a marriage is a sad occasion, but it sounds like this was not a healthy relationship. The silver lining may be that it gives Lisa a chance to turn her life around.
