The schedule for San Diego’s annual Comic-Con has recently been released, and it of course features some major Game of Thrones awesomeness.
On Day 1 of the Con, Thursday, July 18, A Song of Ice and Fire author George R. R. Martin will be holding an autograph signing for the new 2014 Ice and Fire calendar. Then, on Friday, July 19, there will be a Game of Thrones panel featuring Martin along with series creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, plus cast members Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), John Bradley (Samwell Tarly), Michelle Fairley (Catelyn Stark), Rose Leslie (Ygritte), and Richard Madden (Robb Stark).
That’s an impressive cast list for the panel, and it's interesting that it includes Richard Madden and Michelle Fairley, whose characters perished last season. We expect the panel to share some tidbits about Season 4, which begins filming soon, as well as covering some ground about the past season (which would explain the deceased Starks’ inclusion).
Directly following the panel, George R. R. Martin will be signing autographs for Warner Brothers (parent company of HBO, which produces GoT). He will also hold two more autograph signings during the Con: One on Saturday, July 20, for A Song of Ice and Fire publisher Bantam Books, and another yet-to-be-scheduled one for Avatar Comics, who are publishing a comic based on Martin’s werewolf-themed novella, The Skin Trade.
As Martin puts it on his Livejournal, “There should be plenty of chances for anyone who wants me to deface their books, maps, games, videotapes, or body parts with my illegible scrawl.”
All of this sounds amazing, so we’re going to go ahead and book our tickets to San Diego now!
