Kim Kardashian Tweets About Trayvon Martin — Gets Immediate Backlash
These days, getting new mom Kim Kardashian to tweet isn’t easy. But when the Trayvon Martin case got a “not guilty” verdict on July 13, even Kim decided to join the flood of other celebrities sharing their opinions about the controversial ruling (the 140-character versions of their opinions, at least).
“My heart goes out to Trayvon Martin's family & loved ones. Thought & prayers being sent their way #NoJustice,” she tweeted July 13 to her more than 18 million followers.
Although Kim’s message received almost 10,000 retweets, it also came under fire, particularly for Kim’s use of the hashtag “No Justice.” Critics felt Kim stepped out of line because of her father’s role as a member of the “Dream Team” that helped get former NFL star O.J. Simpson acquitted in 1995.
Robert, a prominent attorney who died in 2003, once told ABC he wasn’t so sure of his former client and longtime friend’s innocence. Daughter Kim was only 15 at the time of the notorious murder trial.
