The Vampire Diaries

Paul Wesley Cast in Full-Length Version of Oscar-Winning Short Curfew

Everything’s coming up Paul Wesley! Deadline reports The Vampire Diaries star has been cast as the lead in Curfew. The feature film will be based on 2013 Oscar-winner for Best Live Action Short.

Shawn Christensen earned the Academy Award for writing, directing, and starring in the film. Back in February, Paul celebrated the Oscar win with Christensen, tweeting, “Congrats to these boys. Well deserved.”

Christensen is also a musician on the side, and the stellastarr* frontman has cast Paul Wesley as the star, along with (The Vampire Diaries), Emmy Rossum (Shameless), and Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy).

In the short, Richie (Christensen) has hit rock bottom when he gets a call out of nowhere from his sister, Maggie. She needs him to babysit his 11-year-old niece Sophia (Fatima Ptacek). The film follows them as the two strangers learn about each other.

Paul Wesley is also a producer on the movie. Directing has long been one of Paul’s ambitions, so perhaps this is a first step.

This is likely the movie Paul’s been filming in New York, though he’s tried to keep the news under wraps. “Sorry for the radio silence. Back to NYC today to finish up my film. Very excited to share news about it soon,” he tweeted on July 7.

We can’t wait to see Paul is this (very different!) role.
