Grey’s Anatomy Season 10 finally has a premiere date, which means we can officially start counting down the days until Thursday, September 26. Until then, we’ll be distracting ourselves by dreaming up wish lists for all of our favorite characters and couples, and next on our list is Dr. Miranda Bailey.
When we last left her, she was slowly (and maybe surely) recovering from her traumatic CDC investigation. After killing three of her patients due to faulty gloves and a MRSA infection, she was having a lot of trouble getting back into the operating room, but she swooped in to save the day — and in turn, Meredith Grey’s life — in the Season 9 finale.
Now that she seems to be back to her old self (at least in some ways), here are three things we want to see from her in Season 10.
1. Bring back the old Bailey! We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again — it’s time for Miranda to channel her Season 1 days and be the all-ruling “Nazi” at Grey Sloan Memorial. She had a rough season, and it will be a rough road if Richard Webber is, in fact, dead, but if anything, her hardships and Richard’s potential absence should make her want to help people more. We’re not just talking about being a badass in the OR, but also mentoring the newly-minted series regulars (aka the interns) and bringing back an old-school Grey’s feel. We sense more nights at Joe’s this season!
2. Family ties. Bailey has struggled throughout the series to have a good home-work life balance, and it seems she’s mastered that lately... or kind of. We haven’t seen much of her home life since she got married to Ben Warren, and now that his portrayer, Jason George, is headed to Lifetime’s Witches of East End, we have a feeling he won’t be around that much. However, he did reveal that he will be in Season 10, so that means there can still be family time for their adorable trio. We would love to see Miranda and Tuck moments, especially given how rough Season 9 was for her.
3. New and exciting things, too. We don’t just want the old Bailey — we want her to embark on new adventures, too. She was working on a great genetic mapping project for Alzheimer’s — and found out that Meredith tested positive — so that could be a great clinical trial for her to explore. While it didn’t exactly go well for Meredith and Derek when they tried, Bailey’s could be different, innovative, and exciting. Hey, maybe she’ll even work together with Meredith on this one. Now that we’d love to see.
