Veep Star Anna Chlumsky Welcomes First Child and First Emmy Nomination

Anna Chlumsky is having the best week ever. A week after giving birth to her first child, Anna received her first-ever Emmy nomination for her role on Veep.

People reports that Anna and husband Shaun So — both of whom are 32 — welcomed daughter Penelope Joan on Thursday, July 11, in New York City.

And this morning, July 18, the new mother scored her first-ever Emmy nomination for playing Amy Brookheimer — opposite Seinfeld vet Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who was also nominated this year — on HBO comedy Veep.

"I’m still in shock," she tells People. "When I got the call, I wasn’t sleeping because I was breastfeeding my daughter," she says. "It was neat because it was me and my husband and my daughter all in the room getting the news at the same time. When [my manager] told me, it was that nervous, happy, appreciative laughter. I just laughed a lot! It feels really great to have your work noticed.

"I’m really, really happy … I have this new bundle of love that’s now in my life. She has made my life even better … It’s seriously the best thing. Holding her is fantastic. It’s one of the more enjoyable things. It doesn’t get boring at all. I could hold her all day."

We've loved Anna since her role in the 1991's family film My Girl — and we're so happy for her many successes two decades later!
