Once Upon a Time

Emmys 2013: Once Upon a Time Nominated For Outstanding Costumes and Makeup

Even though Once Upon a Time is a relatively new show, that doesn’t mean it isn’t being recognized at big awards show. While none of the actors were nominated for 2013 Emmys — though we think Robert Carlyle and Lana Parrilla deserved one — the fairy tale drama is still up for two gold statues.

Given their incredible costumes and makeup, it comes as no surprise that OUAT nabbed two noms for transforming actors into the characters we know and love. Costume designers Eduardo Castro and Monique McRae are nominated for Outstanding Costumes For A Series in Season 2, Episode 9: “Queen of Hearts,” while makeup artists Sarah Graham, Juliana Vit, and Naomi Bakstad were nominated for Outstanding Makeup For a Single-Camera Series (Non-Prosthetic) in Season 2, Episode 20: “The Evil Queen.”

Hmm, is it coincidence or a sign that queen-centric episodes scored the nominations? They may be the most evil people on the show, but they definitely look good while doing it.

OUAT is up against the likes of Boardwalk Empire, The Borgias, Game of Thrones, and Downton Abbey for costumes and the same first three plus Mad Men and Glee for makeup. Fingers crossed!

Do you think OUAT will win at the 2013 Emmys? Sound off below.
