Real Housewives’ Joyce Giraud: “A Child Is A Blessing, Not A Mistake”
Real Housewife of Beverly Hills newbie Joyce Giraud has some strong feelings about motherhood. Then again, she wouldn't be qualified to be a Housewife if she weren't opinionated at times, right?
Joyce — a former two-time Miss Puerto Rico — is now president of the Queen of the Universe Pageant, and she tells Celebrity Baby Scoop why this pageant is better than the rest.
"What sets Queen of the Universe apart from other pageants is that it is a pageant where girls are not judged on whether they are married, single, divorced, have children, or have a particular gender preference," the 38-year-old Joyce explains. "Women should never be judged based on any of those factors."
"If a woman had a baby at a young age and she wants to represent her country, why couldn’t she?" Joyce adds. "A child is a blessing, not a mistake, so why make that woman feel like she made a mistake by having a baby at a young age?" We love that thought, J!
Joyce also has a budding acting career, as she currently stars in the CBS drama series Siberia, so how does she balance work and raising her two sons — Leo, 3, and Val, 2 — with movie producer husband Michael Ohoven? "My best piece of advice is to take a deep breath and know that all mothers have a bit of superhero inside of them," she advises. "Bringing babies into this world is such a huge miracle. Juggling everything is really not that difficult, as long as you have your priorities straight."
Sounds like it's easier said than done, but we can't wait to learn more about Joyce and her family when Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 4 starts airing!
