Ravenswood to Air During Pretty Little Liars Hiatus, Confirms Marlene King
Bless the television gods! Marlene King just confirmed that Pretty Little Liars’ supernatural spin-off, Ravenswood, will be airing during PLL’s mid-season hiatus. Huzzah! This means more Caleb, more teen mystery, and more PLL Powers That Be during the PLL hiatus.
Ravenswood will premiere in October, following the PLL Halloween special (Season 4, Episode 13). As PLL writer Lijah Barasz tweeted, the Halloween episode "will intro the world to #Ravenswood," including several of the main characters. Obviously, Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) will be one of those characters, as he is joining the cast of Ravenswood, but we’re now wondering if Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Emily (Shay Mitchell) will also be hanging out in Ravenswood for the first ep based on recent mentions from the actors and director Norman Buckley.
This also raises questions about the Ravenswood timeline. Will time pass in Ravenswood at roughly the same rate as in Rosewood, allowing for crossover episodes? The first batch of Ravenswood episodes will air between PLL’s Halloween special and its winter premiere. Will much time have passed in Rosewood in that time, or will the winter premiere pick-up right where the Halloween special leaves off?
We know the PLL Powers That Be are hesitant to move too quickly as the Liars are in their senior year of high school and graduation would mean a big change for the format of the show, but - if they plan to have Ravenswood/PLL crossovers — that would box Ravenswood into a fixed format right from the get-go. This could get tricky... but at least we have Ravenswood episodes to tide us over during the PLL hiatus!
Are you glad to hear there will be Ravenswood episodes to watch during the PLL hiatus? How do you think the shows’ respective timelines will work? Sound off in the comments below!
