Pretty Little Liars

Pretty Little Liars Recap: Season 4, Episode 7 — “Crash and Burn, Girl!”

Buckle up! In this week's recap of Pretty Little Liars (Season 4, Episode 7, “Crash and Burn, Girl!”), Nigel's memory is foggy (but ours isn't  remember him with Jenna at Wilden's funeral?!), Emily gets a free car, and the Liars have some beef with "A."

Wherein Emily Finds the Key to Unhappiness

Emily should really stop trying to help, don’t you think? Everything she tries ends up backfiring (think: the notebook or last week’s police video), and this week is no exception, as that key to Wilden’s apartment she swiped gets her mom suspended from the force. But at least Emily got some free steaks out of the deal, right?

Then, we got our biggest jolt of the night when an empty car comes careening through Emily’s living room, meaning this is the 3,278th time that a car has been damaged in some way on this show. Seriously, auto insurance rates at Rosewood must be through the roof. But who among the “A” candidates would know enough about cars to pull off this latest stunt?

Wherein Spencer Loves the Taleb Bromance as Much as We Do!

Spencer pretty much made Toby’s head explode when she told him that CeCe visited Mona in Radley  meaning she might have been the “blonde girl” who was visiting his mother. We’ve long suspected CeCe might’ve had something to do with Wilden’s death — and where the heck has she been lately?

Caleb and Toby got some major info thanks to their sleuthing  namely, that Nigel made a bunch of calls to NYC  but even if they had come up empty-handed, we wouldn’t complain. We just love when they’re bro-ing out together with their "serious faces" on.

Wherein Aria and Ezra Make Us Squeal Yet Again

There are some things that you don’t know you miss until they come back in your life. For us, two things that fit that description are the McRib (don’t judge) and Ezria, who had their cutest scene of the season this week outside of Ezra’s apartment. Hurry up and get back together, you two! We’re running out of Kleenex.

So if Mike wasn’t the person who brought down Connor’s car’s Carfax rating, then who was? Aria is convinced it was “A,” but might it have been Ezra? After all, he was awfully certain that Mike wasn’t responsible for it. Then again, we don’t really think of Ezra as having a “Hulk smash” side to his personality.

Wherein Hanna Puts Her Forgery Skills to Good Use

Hanna in her house alone as she gets her mom's clothes is probably among the "Top 5 Saddest PLL Scenes Ever"! Is her mom really going away for 20 years? We're surprised the Liars haven't tracked down CeCe already to figure out what she was up to the night of Wilden's death. And given that we still think CeCe had something to do with Spencer not getting into Penn, CeCe clearly has some explaining to do.

— The biggest clues of the night involved Nigel Wright, whom we first met when he escorted Jenna to Wilden’s funeral. Now, we see him again at the flight center, where Caleb swipes his phone after they realize Nigel made up the plane info for “John Smith.” Does this mean Jenna is the person he’s talking to at the end of the episode  or is it someone else, like maybe Shana? And who was he calling in NYC?

— Nigel says that CeCe paid him to fiddle with the flight records - meaning CeCe would appear to be Red Coat. But is she? After all, it seems as though Nigel just used CeCe’s name to get her in trouble, and perhaps he’s actually working with Jenna and Shana. So did he actually start the fire  and was it Ali who helped Toby find his “NW” lighter?

— Who really killed Wilden? We definitely think CeCe is up to no good, and she clearly has history with Wilden, but now that the show has mentioned her as a suspect, it’s unlikely that she actually did it. We just hope Hanna’s mom gets out of the slammer soon. Orange is so not her color.

Other Things To Be Discussed:

Okay, so we loved the purple rose dress Aria was wearing while talking to Byron at home. But her pink "As If" sweater she wore in the beginning of the episode? Yikes!

As always, there was an endless list of hilarious quotes in this episode. However, our favorite might have been when the Liars are in Wilden's apartment, and Aria made that "Jimmy Kimmel or boobs?" quip about Wilden's taste in movies. Bravo, Aria.
