Pretty Little Liars

Pretty Little Liars Season 4, Episode 7: “Crash and Burn, Girl!” — That Awkward Moment When… (VIDEO)

Pretty Little Liars is action-packed with drama, thrills, and twisted plot lines, but there’s one thing that people fail to mention when talking about the show: all the awkward moments.

Think back through PLL’s four seasons — a lot of uncomfortable things have happened. For example, finding out you made out with your English teacher (and by the way, that “college girl” is only 16), discovering your boyfriend is “A,” or realizing your mom hit a detective (who was hot on your trail) with her car. Those are just a handful of the uncomfortable moments our Liars have had to endure.

Basically, Rosewood is one awkward town, and to honor that (or at least call the Liars out on their weird moments), we’re compiling all of ‘em, one episode at a time. On last night’s episode (Season 4, Episode 7: “Crash and Burn, Girl!"), we saw the girls do something very strange and creepy, and it ended up being super awkward.

In order to find out intel about Detective Wilden (read: a “murder suspect”) and try to free Ashley Marin from jail, Emily steals a key from her mom at the police department so she, Aria, and Spencer can break into his apartment. Yes, a dead detective’s apartment. They proceed to rustle through his things (which includes a bedside copy of “Lord of the G-Strings”) while “A’ watches from a closet and calls his surprisingly-still-connected phone to spook them.

It’s not just awkward that they’re going through a dead man’s things, or even that they wear hideous gardening gloves while doing it — mostly it’s awkward because Emily risked her mom’s job to do it. Oh, and by the way, Mrs. Fields gets suspended because of the missing key. (Such a great daughter!)

While this doesn’t stack up with Aria and Jake running into Ezra’s illegitimate son or Emily flirting with a straight guy and then telling him she has a girlfriend at the last second, it was still a pretty little awkward moment.
