Since Cory Monteith (Finn) passed away unexpectedly nearly two weeks ago — on July 13 in a Vancouver hotel room — friends of the Glee star have been in mourning. On July 25, the cast, crew, and producers of the Fox show had the chance to gather together for a memorial in honor of their fallen friend.
A statement from Fox to E! News expressed the following sentiments about the event, saying "Today, Ryan Murphy and Lea Michele gathered the cast, crew and producers of Glee, along with colleagues from the network and studio, to share memories and music in an emotional celebration of the life of Cory Monteith. We thank the public for their continued outpouring of love and support as we grieve our friend and colleague during this difficult time."
On their part, fans have memorialized Cory’s passing by naming a star after him, as well as putting flowers and pictures all over to symbolize their love for him. Fans are also encouraged to give to the charities Cory Monteith held dear to him.
We continue to grieve right alongside the people who knew Cory and were close to him, especially his girlfriend, Lea. The crew returns to set on August 5 after production was pushed back a short while to allow time for grieving. After the first two episodes of Season 5 are complete, the Glee family will put together a tribute episode to Finn Hudson and Cory Monteith, which will likely air as Episode 3.
