Roger has played a variety of roles over his 30 year career, including parts in medieval and fantasy fare such as the films A Knight’s Tale (which also featured Mark Addy, AKA the late King Robert) and The Brothers Grimm. Coincidentally, Roger also had an arc on The Tudors alongside future TV-daughter Natalie Dormer, who portrays Margaery on Game of Thrones.
With the role of Mace now cast, we can cross another name off the list of potential roles for Sherlock star Mark Gatiss. Mark is the most well-known actor to join the Season 4 cast so far, but the show’s producers are keeping tight-lipped about just who he’ll be playing.
We do know that there is at least one more major role to be cast: Styr, Magnar of Thenn, who was one of three new additions announced by George R. R. Martin back in May, along with Mace Tyrell and Oberyn Martell. With Roger cast as Mace and the previous reveal of Oberyn’s casting, the clues seem to point to Gatiss filling the remaining role of Styr, but there could be (i.e. probably is) some other role the producers aren’t telling us about. (We still like the theory that he's a Greyjoy.)
