Teresa Giudice’s Lawyer Speaks Out: “It’s Tough For Everybody, Including the Girls”

It’s certainly not Teresa Giudice’s week, and all Real Housewives of New Jersey fans know that that’s saying something. On July 29, Teresa and hubby Joe Giudice were charged with 39 counts of fraud and tax evasion, that could end up landing them up to 50 years in jail.

On July 30, each posted a $500,000 bail and Teresa’s attorney, Henry E. Klingeman spoke out about the matter. Henry told E! News that Tre has been “resolute” throughout this whole ordeal.

“She’s tending to her kids and dealing with this like a grownup,” he told the site. This shocking blow has been hardest on the Giudice family, including the couple’s four daughters.

"The family is handling themselves with great dignity, but it's very traumatic," he told Us Weekly. "And when you have four small girls, it's tough for everybody, including the girls."

Teresa and Joe are using separate representation, which unaffiliated defense attorney Stuart Slotnick tells Wetpaint Entertainment exclusively is common.

“They don’t have to have different attorneys. But it’s advisable when two people are together accused of the same crime,” Stuart tells Wetpaint. “There’s something called a conflict. So a lot of times if a husband and wife have the same attorney the judge will set a hearing to determine if there’s a conflict.”

Teresa’s attorney shed even more light on her decision for separate representation.

“Even if people are on the same page like a husband and wife, they could theoretically go in different directions at some point in the future," he told E! News.

This could mean that Tre and Joe will be parting ways, but at the courthouse today they showed a united front, holding hands as they moved through a sea of photographers and cameramen.

"Every point has two sides and there is another side to this," Joe Giudice’s attorney, Miles Feinstein told Us Weekly. "We're confident they're not guilty but we haven't received the discovery [yet]."
