See, the problem with assuming that she ends up alone is that according to Reality Steve, Desiree picks Brooks Forester. RS could have given himself a loophole and left it at that, but he also indicated that the two are engaged. And while Steve has been right in the past, he's also been wrong about some of the details of this season, so who's to say his endgame intel is 100% correct? We certainly have our doubts.
Back on April 22, Des jetted off to Salt Lake City, where Brooks currently resides, for a hometown date with the hot 28-year-old part-time model, full-time Fit Marketing sales rep. And, on April 24, Steve reported confidently that Des chooses Brooks, saying, "From everything I’ve been told, Desiree has been smitten by Brooks from the beginning and that’s the guy she’s gonna choose." We’re one week away from finding out if that happens, and it's become increasingly unlikely. While we want a miracle, we have to put a little realism in reality TV, just in case this Fantasy date really gets the nightmare finale we're afraid of.
If it turns out Steve is wrong, it wouldn't be the first (or even the second) time, which he admits. "Last season towards the end, I was told AshLee was going to be Sean’s pick, so Brooks could end up being wrong. But I’m just telling you that’s what I’ve been told, which is why I tweeted that Desiree’s pick won’t be a surprise to anyone based on what I’m hearing. Apparently it’s been Brooks for a while now."
But the July 29 episode seems to call all of that into question. Sure, it's entirely possible that Brooks realizes he made a mistake and returns in the end. Stranger things have happened before. Remember when Jason Mesnick proposed to the wrong girl? Oopsie! But who's to say Des would even take Brooks back at this point? We're not so sure we would if we were in her shoes.
On the one hand, it would be the perfect ending to their love story. After all, Brooks accompanied Des on her very first 1-on-1 date back in LA. And considering they dressed up Yenter-style in wedding garb and he didn’t run away, it may have been an indication that his cold feet are just a temporary condition. But, fast forwarding to this week, that amazing first date feels a little fuzzy in our rear view. After the events of Des's Overnight Dates episode, we can just as easily see Des walking away and choosing no one. Or perhaps she'll find enough love left in her heart to start over with Drew Kenney or Chris Siegfried?
The only thing that is certain at this point is that we can't wait to see how the rest of this harrowing story unfolds!
