Nashville Season 2: Oliver Hudson Joins Cast as Rayna’s New Love Interest

Deacon Claybourne (Charles Esten) had a rough end to last season — come on, he was actually in a wreck with Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton) — so it couldn't come as a shock to you that the moody crooner will have an even tougher season next year.

While Deacon and Rayna were getting closer and more intimate, that doesn't mean that they'll be hopping back into bed together any time soon, not after the whole baby daddy problem. And now it looks like Deacon will have even more competition for Rayna's heart.

Rules of Engagement's Oliver Hudson is heading to Nashville to play a recurring love interest for Rayna, according to TV Line. He will reportedly play a charming, bad boy businessman and promises to "shake things up in Nashville."

Season 2 is set to premiere on September 25 and will show the aftermath of Rayna and Deacon's car accident before moving ahead several weeks.

As it is in real life, Rayna's near-death experience sends her album sales through the roof, making her an important player in the eyes of her label's new top executive (Oliver's character).

This is the second cast addition since the show added Chaley-Rose to BFF to Clare Bowen's Scarlett O'Connor.
