Friday Night Lights Movie: Connie Britton Has the Script!
Stay seated, Friday Night Lights fans, Tami Taylor has spoken.
Current Nashville diva and all-time best TV mom and wife Connie Britton recently told Ladies' Home Journal that she has a script for a Friday Night Lights movie. Pick up your jaw off the floor and proceed.
"I have the script for a potential movie spin-off of FNL," she said. "I think it’s just a matter of finding a time when everyone can do it."
It sounds like it's finally happening, y'all, our dreams have been answered. Seriously, since the show was cancelled back in 2011, fans have been clamoring for a movie spin-off so we can revisit our favorite Texans again.
But Connie brings up a good point — wrangling that cast is going to take a tremendous effort, with half of them caught in a revolving door otherwise known as Parenthood and Kyle Chandler always involved in some fantastic movie (see: The Spectacular Now, Zero Dark Thirty, and a little film called Argo). He's pretty much always busy, so that could cause a problem — and we need our Coach Taylor back.
Back in June, Wetpaint editor Alyse Whitney caught up with Scott Porter (Jason), Matt Lauria (Luke), and Gaius Charles (Smash) at the Austin Television Festival and all three said they were totally down for a movie, but that they didn't know any specifics about it.
"For them to open the door back up to a show that we ended on our own terms would be something they would be very careful shepherds of," Scott said. "I really believe that it could happen, and with the people that are in charge, with Peter Berg, Jason Katims, and even Kyle and Connie, [they] are the right mix of people to make sure that it would be fantastic."
We've been told so many things by so many FNL stars, but this is finally some solid proof that at least there's a chance. Texas forever!
