Game of Thrones Season 4 Spoilers: What Happens to Littlefinger?
With Game of Thrones Season 3 a distant memory, it’s now time to turn our attention to what may lie ahead in Season 4. Since GoT is based on the book series A Song of Ice and Fire (ASOIAF), we can make some good guesses about how the story will play out next season, at least in broad strokes. Here are our predictions about what's coming up for one of the show’s most mysterious characters, Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish, based on the latter half of A Storm of Swords.

Littlefinger “Rescues” Sansa. So remember when Littlefinger left King’s Landing midway through Season 3 to head to the Vale and seduce Lysa Arryn? Yeah, about that... If the show is anything like the book, he never left. He’s been hiding out in a boat just offshore of King’s Landing, waiting for his plan to come to fruition. What plan? Why, the murder of Joffrey of course! Littlefinger orchestrates the whole thing, and he also arranges for his lolita Sansa to join him on his love boat so they can make their way to the Vale to pay a visit her aunt together.
Littlefinger gets hitched. Once Littlefinger and Sansa (ahem, Alayne) arrive at the Vale, Lysa Arryn wastes no time in marrying Littlefinger. They tie the knot pretty much as soon as they see each other, and she proclaims that she’s been in love with him since she was a little girl. Aww. Then they have really loud sex. Like, really loud. Eww. With the marriage, Littlefinger becomes Lord Protector of the Vale, which, along with his other title of Lord of Harrenhal, suddenly makes Littlefinger one of the most powerful men in Westeros. That’s not gonna be good for anybody.
Littlefinger becomes a real killer. Littlefinger has typically always had a hands-off policy when it comes to murdering. Why get his hands dirty when he can get other people to do the work for him? But all that changes after his blushing bride sees him trying to make out with her 14-year-old niece and decides the best course of action is to dangle Sansa over the Eyrie’s moon door and threaten to drop her. Littlefinger still wants to have his way with Sansa, and he can’t really do that if she’s dead, so he talks Lysa down from the brink of madness by telling her that he’s only ever loved one woman. Thinking he’s referring to her, Lysa releases Sansa to safety. Littlefinger then says, “Only Cat,” and shoves Lysa out the moon door. The scene is a total shocker, and we think the show will leave Littlefinger’s story there as a cliffhanger to close the season.
