Katie Couric Is Sorry After Kim Kardashian Calls Her a “Fake Media Friend”
Update 1: Katie Couric released an apologetic statement to E! News, saying, "I didn't mean to hurt her feelings. The gift is genuine, and I'm happy for Kim and Kanye."
Update 2: Kim's younger sister Khloe approved of Kim's blast, tweeting, "God I love this new side of u!" What brought on this bold new side? A source told Us Weekly, "Kim is so tired of people publicly bashing her yet kissing her ass behind closed doors." Fair enough. Pick a side, people!
It seems that new mother Kim Kardashian can still hold a grudge. The reality starlet posted an not-so-friendly message on Instagram today, August 16, after daytime host Katie Couric sent her a present for baby North West.
Kim Instagrammed a photo of the note from Katie and captioned the picture, “#IHateFakeMediaFriends #MayIHumblySuggestYouNotSendGiftsThenTalkShit.”
Apparently Kim hasn’t exactly gotten over Katie questioning her family’s fame.
“I don’t understand – why are they so famous? I think it’s mostly teenage girls that are interested,” the talk show host said in a recent interview with In Touch.
Katie joins a long line of stars who have dissed the Kardashians. From Mad Men’s Jon Hamm (who said in an interview with Elle UK that when it comes to Kim K and Paris Hilton, “stupidity is certainly celebrated”) to Snoop Lion (who told MrGrassys.com that you can make a “ho a housewife,” in reference to Kim and Kris Humphries), the family has often been the target of harsh comments.
As for Katie Couric, after a rumored uncomfortable interview with Joan Rivers — in which she supposedly asked the comedian why she says “nasty” things about celebrities — source toldThe Daily News, ““It is no secret that Katie hates doing gossipy type interviews." If that's true, it might explain some of the host's aggravation with the Kardashians' fame.
We always love it when Kimmie shoots down the haters, but in this case, she might have taken things a bit too personally.
Our two cents: Just because Katie doesn’t understand the Kardashian appeal (the way we all do), doesn’t mean she can’t reach out with a gift after the birth of the A-list couple’s first child.
