Pretty Little Liars Summer Finale Spoilers: Do Spencer and Toby Break Up? — Exclusive
Spencer (Troian Bellisario) and her boyfriend, Toby (Keegan Allen), got into a big argument during last night’s Pretty Little Liars. So while the couple seemed to have patched things up by the end of the episode, we know their relationship is on rocky ground. “A” has been manipulating Toby all season — promising coveted information about his mother’s death that always seems to be just out of reach — and that often puts his interests in direct conflict with the Little Liars’.
All the drama comes to a head during Pretty Little Liars’ Season 4summer finale (August 27), and we can’t help but wonder if Spoby’s relationship will ultimately crack under the pressure. To find out the answer, Wetpaint Entertainment recently sat down exclusively with actor Keegan Allen. So, are Spencer and Toby really done?
“The thing is, Spencer and Toby do love each other, and there's kind of this soul mate feeling about them, which I think people are enamored with — that picture perfect relationship,” Keegan tells us.
“But yet, things like what happened, it kind of just throws them for a loop, and Toby is a sensitive soul. And when he gets hurt, he leaves town. He completely just ditches and takes off.”
During the next episode, all that comes to a head. “In the finale, Spencer thinks he leaves town, but he just doesn't want to talk to her. He's really hurt. He's kind of gathering himself. He's thinking,” Keegan says.
“He goes into a deep, dark corner and in the finale, he gets information that there might be something with Wren.” Now, Keegan won’t specify exactly how Wren is involved with Toby’s mama drama, but he can tease this: Toby gets very upset when he finds out something Wren and another character have been talking about, and he rushes to confront Spencer about it.
But does this mean Spencer and Toby will break up? Don’t bet on it. Ultimately, Keegan says all the drama just brings Spoby closer together. “It just furthers their storyline together, their relationship status. They're a real couple, but they're just dealing with really heavy subjects.”
