American Horror Story: Coven — Is Sarah Paulson’s Character a Witch?
On American Horror Story: Asylum, Sarah Paulson’s character, Lana Winters, was committed to a mental hospital run by Sister Jude Martin (Jessica Lange.) There was plenty more to the duo’s storylines from last season of AHS — we’ll never be able to look at Dylan McDermott the same way again — but now series creator Ryan Murphy has left the asylum behind in favor of witches.
On AHS: Coven, queen Jessica Lange will be playing a very powerful witch named Fiona, who also happens to be the mother of Sarah Paulson's character, Cordelia. This is bound to be an interesting twist for both actresses, who spent much of AHS’ sophomore season figuring out ways to destroy one another.
While we aren’t privy to the nature of this mother-daughter relationship just yet, Sara did hint to E! Online that her character may have inherited some of her mom’s magical ways. When E! asked her about her possible powers, she was coy, teasing, "I don't think I'm allowed to tell you that.”
Despite remaining tight-lipped, Sarah did reveal that Coven is "going to be a little more fun" than past seasons, which is good, because we’re still having nightmares about satanic nuns. Yes Sister Mary Eunice, we’re looking at you.
