The Vampire Diaries

The Vampire Diaries’ Best Fashion Moments — From Elena’s Boots to Elijah’s Suits

Sure, we love The Vampire Diaries for the blood, angst, and romance, but we also dig the fashion. Our favorite characters have some serious style both in present day and way back when. It’s hard to choose between their many looks, but after four seasons of fearless fashion, here are some of our favorite styles.

Best Tank Tops: Jeremy

No one wears a tank top like Jeremy Gilbert (Steven R. McQueen) especially these days. Elena’s baby brother is no longer a baby, and he’s got the biceps to prove it. Some of our favorite scenes from Season 4 were of Jeremy’s training at Damon’s Camp How to Be A Vampire-Hunter. Featuring: the white tank top! No wonder Bonnie saved Jer from not-so-certain death: he’s far too gorgeous to stay dead.

Best Suits: Elijah

This one’s a given. No one sports a suit like Elijah (Daniel Gillies). There’s even a YouTube video in tribute to this fact set to Jay Z’s “Suit and Tie.” We’re pretty sure seeing Elijah in anything other than a well-fitted dapper suit is a sign of the oncoming apocalypse (along with a flat head of hair on Stefan and Matt without plaid). You’ve been warned.

Best Boots: Elena

We love Elena’s (Nina Dobrev) casual-chic style with her henleys and her bomber jackets, but we may love her footwear best. No, not the converses (though, we dig those, too). We’re talking about those brown leather over-the-knee boots Elena wore in Season 2, Episode 14: “Crying Wolf” and we’ve been coveting ever since. Both sexy — for those cabin make-out sessions with Stefan and practical for fleeing when one’s life is in danger. That Elena Gilbert... always thinking ahead!

Best Period Garb: Katherine

Elena’s doppelganger is no fashion slouch in the 21st century, but she’s got the antebellum style down pat. Her silk-laced hats, tightly-laced bodices, and layers upon layers of ruffled skirt stopped the Salvatore brothers’ hearts. How’s that for fashion effectiveness?

Best Dress: Caroline

Katherine may have the best period pieces, but Caroline (Candice Accola) wins best overall dress hands-down. We’ll always have a special place in our hearts for the ball gown Caroline wore to prom in Season 4, Episode 19: “Pictures of You.” Not only was the Sherri Hill gown gorgeous with its mermaid skirt and intricate beading, but it was from Klaus’ closet, which warmed our Klaroline-shipping hearts.

Best Jewelry: Bonnie

Bonnie (Kat Graham) is pretty much a walking, talking Free People advertisement with her flower-child dresses and her kickass jackets, but what we really love about the witch’s style is her jewelry. Bonnie’s outfits are never complete without a few funky bangles; a long, delicate necklace; or a ring or two. And let us not forget the Bennett talisman, the amber necklace with the power to unlock vampire tombs. Pretty and powerful our favorite kind of jewelry.

Best Top Hat: Damon

These days, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) may be known for his badass leather jackets, but we’ll always be fond of the debonair look he was sporting circa 1912. In Season 3, Episode 16: “1912,” we got to see Damon with an ascot tie, well-fitted suit, and top hat and he wore it well. Not everyone has the face shape for a top hat, you know.
