Game of Thrones and The Hunger Games have more in common than their respective reputations for killing off key characters. Now, they even cast the same leading ladies! As announced earlier this afternoon, Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer) will take a break from plotting with Grandmama to star as Capitol resident Cressida.
Natalie will play the resident director who follows Katniss around with a camera crew until joining in on the rebellion; she’s the one who leads Katniss and Co. to temporary safety at ex-stylist Tigris’ house after that horrible sequence with the Mutts down in the sewer.
Funnily enough, Cressida is known for her shaved head tattooed with vivid green vines — perfect for a Tyrell, whose house sigil is a rose. No word yet on whether Cressida’s on-screen counterpart will have the same extreme look, however.
The role will be a change of pace for Natalie, who has made a name for herself playing medieval leading ladies first as Anne Boleyn on Showtime’s The Tudors and more recently as the woman who would be queen of Westeros but doesn’t own dragons or sleep with her brother.
No matter the role, one thing’s for sure: The girl is on fire.
