Whether the two will officially hook-up in New York City is still TBD, but here’s what we do know: Santana is getting a “serious NYC girlfriend in Season 5” and she and Dani will sing The Beatles’ “Here Comes the Sun” as a duet in the Season 5 premiere. Regardless of whether Dani and Santana start dating, it would appear that these two will be getting close this season. Seeing how Brittany is off being a genius at M.I.T. (and her portrayer Heather Morris is busy being pregnant), we definitely think it’s time for Santana to move on and experiment in the Big Apple — and who better to rebound with than Demi?
Move over, Klaine! Here are three reasons why Santana and Dani would make the perfect Glee couple.
1. They’re both vocal divas. If there’s anyone who could give Demi a (vocal) run for her money, it’s Naya Rivera. We’d love to see these two divas have the first official diva-off of Season 5 with “Here Comes the Son.” OK, so that’s not really the right song choice for a diva-off, but you know what we mean! Imagining all the powerful duets these two can have is already giving us chills. (Since Season 5 is essentially turning into Rent-lite, it’s time to re-do Season 2’s classic diva-off, “Take Me Or Leave Me.”)
2. Santana needs someone to challenge her. We’ve seen Kurt and Rachel adjust to their lives in the Big Apple — thanks to mentors Cassie and Isabelle — but we have yet to see Santana interact with anyone other than her McKinley besties. We think it’s time for Santana to branch out, and meeting someone street savvy like Dani is the perfect city companion for her. Now, we don’t know much about Dani, but if we had to guess, she’s going to have an edge. (Demi knows how to rock leather!) Knowing how much attitude Santana has, it would be nice to see someone challenge her. After all, we haven’t see someone do that since Season 3 villain, Sebastian.
3. Girls just want to have fun. News flash: New York City is nothing like Lima, Ohio. In the city, Santana can finally be herself, and without all the high school relationship drama bringing her down, she’s able to have fun! That’s what being young and living in the city is all about. We may not know much about Dani yet, but if you want to make it in New York City, you have to be independent. Like Santana, Dani might be a little rough around the edges at first — unwilling to let her guard down — but if the two of them learn to open up to one another, it could be the start of a beautiful relationship. We’re not saying Dani can take Brittany’s place — after all, she was Santana’s first love — but for now, she can help Santana see all that the city has to offer.
