American Horror Story: Coven — Premiere Date Confirmed, See New Preview (VIDEO)

American Horror Story: Coven is officially slated to premiere on October 9 at 10 p.m. ET on FX, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

Last season’s Asylum gave us a harrowing look at a decrepit New York mental hospital in the 1960s. This season of the Ryan Murphy drama stars Kathy Bates as Madame LaLAurie, a Louisiana-born socialite and serial killer, and Jessica Lange as a witch named Fiona. This time around, Sarah Paulson will play her daughter. Angela Bassett, Patti Lupone, Emma Roberts and Lily Rabe are also part of the ever-growing cast.

In addition to a premiere date, we also have another look at all of the creepy witchcraft to come thanks to a new sneak peek, below.

The brief but frightening clip is called “Stakes,” and features three young women, presumably witches, being burned at the stake (hovering over it, naturally) as the sky is ominously dark in the background.

Ryan previously stated that he loves to put clues to the season in the opening credits, so we’re clamouring for anything we can get.

Check out the sneak peek below and tell us your thoughts!
