Pretty Little Liars: Ranking the Finales From Best to Worst
In light of the Pretty Little LiarsSeason 4 summer finale, we've been reflecting on the finales that have come before. Because of the split seasons, Pretty Little Liars has presented us with seven action-packed finales since Season 1 aired back in 2010. While every finale has been full of twists and turns, they weren't all made equal. Some left us gasping at the screen in shock, while others were frustrating and disappointing.
We've ranked the seven finales we've seen so far from our least favorite to our favorite. After we explain our thinking, we want to know which finale is your favorite.

Season 3, Episode 24: "A DAngerous GAme." The Season 3 finale had some exciting stuff going on (learning about the Melissa/Shana/Jenna team was good), but it mostly left us frustrated. All the promos promised that Red Coat would be revealed, but really we didn't learn anything about her (or him) — yes, Red Coat could be Ali, but s/he could also be a different person in an Ali mask. Other than the confirmation that Toby was actually good all along, this episode felt like it barely answered anything, while raising ten billion more questions. Yawn.
Season 2, Episode 25: "UnmAsked." We give the writers props for having the guts to reveal the first "A" relatively early in the show's run, and this episode gets a retroactive bump because the writers and Janel Parrish have turned Mona into such an amazing villain, but we'll never forget how disappointed we were when this finale first aired. We expected the "A" reveal to shock us, but instead it was completely obvious — it was literally the same "A" as in the Pretty Little Liars book series. That disappointment colored anything else that might have been good about this episode.
Season 1, Episode 22: "For Whom the Bell Tolls." This episode had a lot going for it, but let's be real — what will always make it stand out in our minds is Spencer's fearless face=off against Ian. It was tense, scary, opened up lots of new mysteries, and cemented our endless love for the fiercest Little Liar.
Season 1, Episode 10: "Keep Your Friends Close." Maybe it's just nostalgia speaking, but we'll always have a soft spot for the very first Pretty Little Liars finale. It had twists (Ian was the one on the video?!), chills (someone wrote on the car while Aria and Ezra were kissing? Creepy!), humor (glamping!), and shocks (Hanna hit by a car!). Because the show was new, we didn't already have sky high expectations for the finale, so this one easily impressed us.
Season 4, Episode 12: "Not You See Me, Now You Don't." We really loved this finale. Reveals! Shocks! Answers about Ali! It would be our number one, except that PLL had already shaken us to the core with...
Season 3, Episode 12: "The Lady Killer." The first half of this summer finale was actually pretty slow, but the second half more than made up for it. Nate going full-on psycho, Emily saving Paige, the standoff in the lighthouse... It was an action-packed ending that left us screaming. However, what really makes this finale our favorite was the big reveal of Toby as the betrAyer. Yes, it turned out that he wasn't really betraying Spencer at all, but at the time seeing Toby turn around in that black hoodie was honestly one of the most mind blowing things we'd ever seen on TV. It quite literally left us shaking, and we'll never forget that feeling.

I've been really disappointed by some of the finales.
