Pretty Little Liars Smashes Ratings With Its Season 4 Summer Finale
Four seasons in and Pretty Little Liarsis stronger than ever! PLL seemed to break all of the records for its Season 4 summer finale — Season 4, Episode 12: “Now You See Me, Now You Don’t” — garnering its biggest summer-finale viewership ever, as well as earning the title as the most-tweeted television episode in SocialGuide’s ranking history. Take that, “A”!
Three-point-three million people tuned in on Tuesday night to watch the Liars come one step closer to discovering the truth about their maybe-dead best friend, and witness PLL’s big reveal that “A” is Ezra Fitz. Viewership was up more than one million from last week’s penultimate episode. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this made the summer finale not only the most watched episode of the summer season, but the most-watched PLL episode since the Season 2 finale, and the most-watched PLL summer finale ever!
While PLL did well in total viewership, they excelled in target demographics. So many young women watched the episode that it ranked #4 in ABC Family history in that demographic, with 2.3 million viewers falling into the “women, ages 12-34” category. And those viewers were vocal about it! PLL accounted for nearly 1.9 million tweets during its broadcast, with 70,000 coming in the show’s final minute. This was enough to blow SocialGuide’s record for most-tweeted television episode out of the water, according to Deadline. We knew the Liars could do it!
