Lea Michele’s 27th Birthday: How Did the Glee Cast Celebrate?

Yesterday, Glee’s Lea Michele (Rachel) celebrated her 27th birthday. Though it was, of course, a happy time, the joy of the occasion was overshadowed by the sadness of her longtime boyfriend Cory Monteith’s (Finn) recent passing. Lea spent her birthday at work on Glee, surrounded by her co-stars.

There was plenty of work to be done, but the cast made sure to set aside time to celebrate Lea’s big day. Kevin McHale (Artie) posted a photo on Instagram showing off a huge slice of the cake he and his co-stars enjoyed in honor of Lea’s birthday.

It’s a carrot cake with white cream cheese frosting and pink, green and purple frosting on the top and sides. And it looks crazy delicious. (But is it a vegan cake? Lea used to be vegan, but has recently decided to “listen to” her body more, and has settled on being a vegetarian, instead.)

Darren Criss (Blaine) tweeted, “A VERY SHMAAAPPY BURRRFDAYYY to my pal @msleamichele!!! And not just cuz I want summa that bday cake in mah tummy... Love u! (And cake) :)”

Is it just us, or does it sound like that cake was a hit? Many of Lea’s Glee co-stars, as well as countless fans, took to Twitter to send her their birthday wishes. Near the end of the day, Lea send out a huge thank you message to everyone.

“Thank you guys for all the birthday love today:) So beyond thankful for all of you..” she wrote. Instead of having a huge birthday bash, Lea instead opted for a small, “low-key” party with her girlfriends later that night.
