We now know that Catherine Avery will return in Season 10 — since her portrayer, actress Debbie Allen, is dressed in scrubs and on the set of Grey's Anatomy in a Twitter photo that was purportedly taken last week.
In the snapshot — which comes to us via the Twitter account of Brisbane Festival — Debbie hovers over a surgical patient (with scalpel in hand) alongside Noel Staunton, the artistic director for the annual Australian arts festival.
We're guessing he's a friend of hers, considering her extensive dance background. (For those of you who only know her as Catherine, she choreographed the 1982 film Fame, founded her own dance academy in 2001, and frequently joins the judges' panel on So You Think You Can Dance.)
Last time Catherine visited Seattle, it was to claim a majority stake in the then-floundering hospital Seattle Grace Mercy West, spouting her now-immortal line: "Now give your mama a kiss, Jackson. She just bought you a hospital."
So what kind of havoc will Cathy raise at the newly-revitalized Grey Sloan Memorial? And will she and Richard — assuming he lives — ever get together? We'll find out in Season 10, which kicks off on September 26 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
