Michael Bublé on the Birth of His Son, Noah: “I Didn’t Have That Feeling of Love”
While Michael Bublémay have been crooning “Haven’t Met You Yet” not too long ago, he actually did finally meet his son, Noah, for the first time – and it wasn’t quite what he expected. While most parents say that first moment of seeing their baby for the first time is earth shattering, the popular standards singer says it wasn’t really that way for him.
“I didn’t have that overwhelming feeling of love. I’m being honest with you,” the new dad said candidly during a Wednesday appearance on CTV'sThe Social, according to People. “I’d heard all of these stories about how this moment was life-changing, but it wasn’t like that for me. I was nervous for my wife, and I was happy that he was healthy… but, that day, it was like meeting a stranger.”
(Cue “Strangers In The Night”)
Before you go getting offended at his admission, the 38-year-old singer said he did have that moment, but it wasn’t until the next night, after he had spent some time with his little guy. “That next night, it really clicked,” he shares. “I was looking at him and all of a sudden, I got it.”
Now that the bond has been formed, we dare say the handsome singer, who is married to Luisana Lopilato, is getting a bit cocky. “I’ve become a master at changing poopy diapers. And I can swaddle — I enjoy being swaddled myself!” he joked.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a bouncing baby of Bublé joy if he wasn’t being sung to by his famous pop, but Michael insists it’s not his hits that he’s singing to him. “My number one go-to right now is 'Down by the Bay,'” he said.
Michael is certainly taking it all in stride, even when the parenting advice he received got a bit overwhelming. “At first it confuses you, then it drives you nuts, and then you realize that there is no right way. You just do the best you can and hope it turns out okay,” he said.
A future American Idolstar in the making? You never know! We’re happy for the Bublé family.
